Gov. Coumo says wear the mask (FACE COVERING) out of a sign for respect.  Only the ignorant believe they offer viral protection. In NYS a covering could be a paper towel which I have seen while grocery shopping.

From a peer reviewed medical journal - effectiveness of trapping particles 5x smaller than coronavirus.

At what percent is there enough protection to prevent a viral load causing an infection?

I'm guessing it has a lot to do with duration of exposure and concentration of viruses, which is why nurses in Covid wards are so vulnerable.

    interesting well a mask is

interesting well a mask is better ...we n eed a vaccine with out it our economy will be disrupted until it happens and we hav no clue the total cost to this .. the other way to deal with this is the herd effect.. daughter in law is a doctor in PA alot of talk about it but 2/3 of the deaths in PA are from the gov locking down the nursing homes lots deaths in NY and Seattle same scenario..so with herd effect u hav to protect the most vulnerable obviously..

    South Korea has done well

Posted by disciple33 on 14th of May 2020 at 11:02 am

South Korea has done well with accurate, widely available testing and contact tracing. Even so, they've had some issues with reopening. This virus not an easy foe, which makes the subject vulnerable to conspiracy theories and outright lies for political motivation (and, even worse, for clicks/views by some "news" sources). Likely happening from both sides of the issue, to some degree.

Posted by golfthis on 14th of May 2020 at 11:15 am

Population in Seoul South Korea is actually larger then NYC by 1 million much different  result there. Population adjusted South Korea tested basically 1 million people first month of this virus we tested 2,000 that's just ridiculous

like i said to different cultures not sure the koreans did what we did with nursing homes or even hav them

    Korea has plenty of nursing

Posted by golfthis on 14th of May 2020 at 11:41 am

Korea has plenty of nursing homes the major  things they did different is tested and traced very aggressively the first month once the virus came to their country.  They have over 50 million people so population adjusted it is like if we had only 1,600 deaths instead of almost 85,000

    Anything that blocks droplets coming

Posted by disciple33 on 14th of May 2020 at 08:49 am

Anything that blocks droplets coming from the wearer's mouth helps prevent the spread of disease to those around him. Most of these masks are more for the protection of others, not the wearer. That is why we're told to wear them; out of respect for those we come in contact with. A bonus is that if everyone wears them in public, we'll all have a level of protection from others who we meet that might be contagious.

Sir, I specifically said VIRAL protection. Lets get on with trading.

    The virus is carried on

Posted by disciple33 on 14th of May 2020 at 09:09 am

The virus is carried on saliva, primarily, and masks block spit.  However, if you're in a confined space for awhile with someone who is infected, there is a good chance that a higher concentration of smaller particles of moisture will get into the air as you breathe, potentially bearing viruses.
