Algo / Automated trading -

Posted by jdaswani on 25th of Apr 2020 at 11:40 am

Algo / Automated trading - I have a trading pattern I use and it’s consistently accurate - what’s the best way for me to learn how to program / build an automated trading program for real money use. I am looking to take this live for personal consumption.

What software do I need, what trading platform supports this and do I need to learn a coding language. I am a wt yr retired Wall Street veteran, but have no clue about automation / electronic trading. Any advice, guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. JD

    Thinkorswim has built in SW

Thinkorswim has built in SW you can use  to "script " a program to apply your system.  I think they call it "Thinkscript".  I used it once way back in 2010 or so before Thinkorswim was bought by TD Ameritrade.  Good luck and keep me posted on your progress.

    Here's a Link to some info: https://usethinkscript.com/p/learn-thinkorswim-coding-language/

BTW, I think some of the Thinkorswim "studies" have the source  code veiwable.

Good luck and keep me posted on your progress.

    Also, Thinkorswim has a Paper

Also, Thinkorswim has a Paper Money platform which would allow you to test your system with real data in real time without using your own real money.

    TradeStation with Easylanguage is another

TradeStation with Easylanguage is another option. It is more portable not tying you to one platform as Easylanguage works with other platforms too.
