Yes, that is what the consensus was. He was tested and sent to a
private lab and the test was not coming back for some reason, so
she got a second test done which was found to be positive. He
was at home for a week thinking he had the flu so I'm sure
early treatment would have made a huge difference!
20 plus years ago I ran a private lab in NYC. It was
during the HIV/AIDS epidemic. I worked in infection disease
and was testing blood for this and managing patients therapy levels
for all the new HIV drugs that were coming to market. With
that it showed how important getting tested right away and to begin
treatment. It saddens me that the healthcare community has
not learned from a lot of the past until these type of outbreaks
occur before people wake up. Most people only change when
forced too, same goes in medicine. Plus we have such a
litigious country that that really stymies progress (that's why we
use most studies out of Europe and other countries).
Good to hear and our best wishes to his recovery - we know
someone who was treated with Mesenchymal Stem Cells (voluntarily)
for treatment of secondary issues related to Covid - he was able to
make a fast and complete recovery. Not here is US but abroad
- greatly reduced the inflation that resulted from the virus
Thanks and I have heard that there is also a treatment using
antibodies from patients who have recovered that is being rushed
along in the pipeline. This is supposedly similar to what worked
during the Spanish flu. Good to know stem cell treatment is also
working for secondary inflammation. I can share this with her. I
think he is going on ECMO to let his lungs rest from the
inflammation.

Thanks for your insights, it is great to have some real knowledge from someone who has been in the trenches and knows how the system really works!
