My workstatation

For fun, Here's one of my workstations, at present.  This isn't the best picture was taken at night, it's dark and grainy.  I placed one 32 inch monitor in the middle as landscape (2560 x 1600 res), and Four 30 inch monitors standing vertically as portrait mode (2560 x 1600).  I have 20 million total pixels here to work with so far

The monitors are super tall like this however I like it, I think I'm better able to use the screen real estate more efficient that way.  Quite honestly I'm thinking about buying another 30 and doing the same with the one monitor in the middle, i.e. having them all standing up vertically.  Ha you can see the gold old trusty headphones used for recording newsletters on hanging on the right monitor

Matt, nice setup however, your screens

    Matt,

nice setup however, your screens are placed flat to facing 'up'. For health reasons (back and neck) I suggest they should be tilted slightly down from the top. I read that last year and has made a world of difference for my office (although I use only 3 screens). good trading.  Haz

    5 30's vertically is a great idea.

    I really want to do

I really want to do that, however the only thing I wonder is should I keep one monitor for landscape for like media and for making a really wide chart?  Tradestation for example it's nice to expand it really wide. That's the only reason I haven't done it. Otherwise I really like the idea, plus makes all the monitors symmetrical.

The problem with the 30 inch landscape monitor in the middle, I'm not effectively utilizing the screen real estate very well at all, I have large areas that are unused but can't really put things in the unused areas because they are not large enough. For example I have mostly web browsers on the middle monitor - the 2560 x 1600 resolution is really too big to have the browsers fully using all the room - I generally use two browser windows side by side, but that leaves space, however it's not enough room to say add more browser windows or charts around the browsers.  When the 30's are in portrait mode I better utilize all the space - hard to explain unless you actually sit here and use it, but maybe you can visualize it.

anyway I do love the idea of adding another 30 in the middle and having all the monitors portrait, just haven't done it because, well I have to buy another monitor, and should I keep one for landscape for really wide charts?

    first world problems I suppose

    Good point. Maybe you put

Good point. Maybe you put a bigger 4k vertical in the middle. Gives you both more horizontal and vertical.

    I have a 4K monitor

I have a 4K monitor actually, I have a 40 inch curved Samsung, it's pretty awesome and the curve makes sense in that size, however I started having problems with my neck and took it out and have been better since I did. you would think the monitors on the side would cause the issue, but I think the middle area is what's important since that's how you tend to sit.

the never ending battle of trying to find my perfect setup,
