Bull cycle and energy sector

correct me if i'm wrong but I read somewhere that energy is the last sector to boom in the bull cycle so looks like we may be in the 8th or 9th inning of the bull cycle.

I checked 2007 and XLE up 36% vs S&P 500 up 3.53% and then of course we all know what happened in 2008.
