if we didn't get in

ES bear long may take a 2nd entry today

Posted by blayden on 18th of Aug 2022 at 02:15 pm

if we didn't get in on the first entry for the Bear Long would you bite on the 2nd entry, or let it go?

I worked for solar install company as controller for a few years.  Payback was/is typically 12-15 years on a grid tied system and we are in a very sunny area, but depends a lot on what utility does, which varies widely (some buy back at retail, some at wholesale, etc).   Payback is likely getting longer now as labor and materials have gone up so much in the last couple years.  Battery backup is cool but absolutely not cost effective.  5kw battery backup is in the $18-20k range. It would only run critical loads for a period of time, so you have to REALLY want to not have any reliance on other energy, and have lots of disposable income to go that route.  I can go to Costco and buy a 7.5kw generator that runs on gas/propane/NG for around $800!  I am also definitely not ready for full EV vehicle.  Again, you have to be wealthy enough to have an 'extra' vehicle just for commuting more 'locally' (and don't get me started on the EV truck thing....if you use a truck for what a truck actually is for (pulling trailers/loads, its a joke unless you want to stop every 100 miles for 3 hrs).   I'm definitely not planning my trip across states or the country around where my stops for charging are going to be, and then sit there for a few hours.....  My opinion for average person is hybrid or plug-in/hybrid makes way more sense still.  Maybe in 10 years charging stations will be faster and more prevelant, and EV vehicle cost will drop...... or maybe the electric grid will be failing even worse since the infrastructure can't support all the charging needs (unless we stop demonize fossil fuels and go to more nuclear generation which makes a LOT of sense).  California's stated goals for electrification are waayyyyy out in left field, the grid can't manage today let alone the extra loads they want to put on the grid in the near future.  Just my random thoughts/observations.

I think we only have

SPY and ES Systems Update

I think we only have about 5 mins left for options trades, do we know if the short triggered?  Thanks!

There is only a long

SPY systems

Posted by blayden on 31st of Mar 2022 at 03:55 pm

There is only a long trade for SPY open at the moment (1st Entry Breakout).

The DVDS still shows as an open short trade on the Systems-Trades page so I assume it is valid.  If not the web page needs to be fixed.

I didn't get into any

Posted by blayden on 22nd of Mar 2022 at 04:31 pm

I didn't get into any of the short SPY trades when they were published, but  given the DVDS has 100% winning trades, and the price is better now, I would think it would make sense to get into that position if the market holds up still by morning?  (I missed it today)

MMMM really popping today after

Posted by blayden on 7th of Feb 2022 at 01:42 pm

MMMM really popping today after being in the toilet the last while. I haven't seen any news, does anyone else have any insight?  It seems like if their business plan comes together as has been discussed on the community this could be a good buy at these levels.

Any thoughts on when CAN

Posted by blayden on 24th of Mar 2021 at 12:19 pm

Any thoughts on when CAN might be a buy again?  I was able to ride from around $15 to $30 and now it's back to the $20 range. Maybe more prudent to see if we get closer to the 50 day around $16......  This space is maybe to volatile to know!  Thanks!

One could also likely make an argument on the opposite side that things will get more "business unfriendly" under a democrat controlled government and the market could go south on that sentiment even if things don't change right away.  Who knows, it will be interesting to see how things play out for sure!

I got stopped out as well on the KISS system (using SPY) so hopefully something official will be mentioned today.

Agree, definite preference for me is the 'New Player' where a person can click through charts with audio.  I don't usually have time to listen/watch through the whole series of charts and this is a very simple and easy way to quickly navigate where you want to go.

Thanks for the great response Signal46, appreciate it!

OK, thanks for response.  It sounds like you can't buy the actual S&P so lets say a person used SPY for the purchase.....they show the DVT stops, in terms of the actual S&P 500 price, so a person would just have to extrapolate that same % stop to the SPY ticker it sounds like.  It would be nice to show the prices for entry and stops in terms of a ticker people are actually buying when trading the S&P DVT system, but I could be missing something.

Sorry for a dumb question,

Posted by blayden on 29th of Sep 2020 at 02:19 pm

Sorry for a dumb question, but what do I actually buy in my 401k if I want to do the 401k DVT system trades?    Thanks!

Does anyone have insight on

Posted by blayden on 16th of Aug 2020 at 04:53 pm

Does anyone have insight on a good way to short commercial real estate?

I got into SQQQ yesterday at $10.28 (thanks for recommendation).  How would you manage sell strategy from here?  I am inclined to keep moving stops up vs. selling but might be wise to actually just take some profit vs. just moving stop up?  It swung pretty wild this morning and if I would have moved stop up too high I would have been stopped out and missed the big rally up the last hour or so.....  I always have trouble with sell strategy.   (funny, I meant to just buy 300 shares yesterdayand ended up buying 3,000 but decided to just put a tight stop and let it ride.....better to be lucky than good sometimes I guess)

It seems like things are

Posted by blayden on 30th of Apr 2020 at 03:38 pm

It seems like things are moving more towards day trading and short term activity.  Many of us that work day jobs can't participate in this type of trading (or don't want to sit and day trade).  The SPY system typically works good  for trading w/o having to monitor continuously.  I know some of the systems are being revamped, including trading for 401k's?  We need a clear system for 401k's that would typically only have trades every 3-4 months, since at least for my company 401k there are penalties for moving $$'s in or out of a fund more than once every 90 days (I think it is).   It sounds like the DVTS system could be applicable if the right time frame was used?

Thanks!

To be able to see these charts what level of membership is required for Stockcharts?  Does the "Basic" do the trick ($15/mo), or do you need the "Extra" ($25/mo).  I think these charts allow you to see Breakpoints charts with their custom indicators......

Is there any general advice

Posted by blayden on 27th of Mar 2020 at 03:49 pm

Is there any general advice on the SPY trade that is currently open?  I do the options trade and am down ~$5,000 right now. Is the direction to just hold and see if market can continue to rebound I assume?  Just wondering if there is a point where we have had this bounce back and it's better to bail out if you think the general market is getting closer to a lower high and then rolling over again for another leg dow..   The time horizon of May 15 is the ticking clock in the background.  I do realize there are no crystal balls in this kind of black swan event.  Thanks!

THanks for your thoughts.  China should be a good gauge to look at.  I think their cases started to level off from the large growth around 5 weeks into the outbreak (Feb 7th I think?).  I think from that time it continued to drop and deaths mostly stopped.  I don't know why we shouldn't see a similar scenario.  By mid to late April we should see things level off and by then hopefully sane minds prevail and we get the country going again ASAP.  Sure we can and maybe should quarantine the sick, isolate the most vulnerable, BUT let the rest of the 99% of population this isn't a big deal for get back to work.  Consequences of closing everything for 6-9 months, as Cuomo mentioned, would be far more devastating and likely cause MUCH more sickness and death.  I'd bet anyone the deaths from COVID19 will be MAGNITUDES less than influenza (as seen in China).
